This is a bread to make sunflower lovers sing. The sunflower seeds impart a lovely, subtle taste and a lovely chewy texture. Toasted, this bread does wonderful things with fruit and jelly, and it will breathe new life into that predictable cheese sandwich. Next time I will toast the raw sunflower seeds. I did not bake this bread in the bread machine, I took it out after kneading and baked it in a bread pan. A good tasting bread!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup water
1 3/4 cups white bread flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon dry milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1 1/4 teaspoons fast rise yeast or 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 1/4 cups water
2 1/2 cups white bread flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons dry milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons honey
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
2 teaspoons fast rise yeast or 3 teaspoons active dry yeast
Directions:

2. If using unsalted sunflower seeds, increase the salt by a pinch.
3. This bread makes croutons with a new kind of crunch.
4. This recipe can be made with the regular, rapid, or delayed time bake cycles.
