Brazilian Honey-Spice Bread

This yummy tea bread from Brazil can be served plain with butter or cream cheese or fancied up with an icing sugar glaze and a candied fruit garnish. The choice is yours!
Ingredients:
1/3 cup milk
2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup honey
2 eggs, beaten
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup icing sugar, sifted
1 -2 teaspoon milk
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and brown sugar.
2. Cook and stir over low heat until the sugar is dissolved.
3. In a bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
4. Gradually blend in the milk mixture, honey, eggs and vegetable oil.
5. Turn the batter into a greased 8 x 4 loaf pan.
6. Bake at 350 degrees F for 55 to 60 minutes or until done, covering with foil the last 15 minutes.
7. Cool in the pan 10 minutes.
8. Remove from the pan and cool thoroughly.
9. If desired, combine icing sugar and enough milk to make a glaze of spreading consistency; frost the cooled loaf.
10. Decorate with candied fruit.
