Ingredients:
1 shallot, minced
1 slice onion (about 1/2-inch thick)
1 small carrot, scraped and cut in half lengthwise
6 whole peppercorns
1 whole clove
1 bay leaf
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons red wine
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Cook over low heat 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove peppercorns, clove, and bay leaf before serving.
