Boiled Fruit Cake

This is great for the holidays
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups golden seedless raisins
2 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup crisco® shortening
4 cups flour ; sifted
2 tablespoon nutmeg ; grated
1 teaspoon cloves ; ground
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 cup applesauce
1 cup walnuts
1 cup candied fruit
Directions:
1. Place raisins and boiling water in saucepan and boil 5 minutes.
2. Add sugar and shortening.
3. Cool.
4. Mix; nutmeg, cloves, baking soda and applesauce (add alternately with dry ingredients.)
5. Beat until well blended.
6. Add walnuts and candied fruit.
7. Bake in 2 loaf pans 45 minutes at 350°F.
8. Cool 20 minutes before removing from pans.
9. Store in aluminum foil.
