Boeuf à La Bière (Beer Beef Stew)

A classic family recipe, always good on a cold winter night!
Ingredients:
2 lbs boneless beef cubes
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 beer
1 cup beef broth
1/2 teaspoon marjoram
1/2 teaspoon thyme
salt and pepper
3 carrots, cut to pieces
5 celery, cut to pieces
1/2 cup barley
Directions:
1. Heat oil and cook onion with garlic for 2 minutes. Add the beef and sprinkle with flour and paprika. Add salt and pepper and brown beef on each sides.
2. Add beer, broth and herbs. Bring to a boil. Cover and let simmer for 1 1/2 hour.
3. Add vegetables and barley. Continue cooking for 45 minutes.
