Blueberry Blackberry Spice Syrup |

Ingredients:
10 ounces blueberries (2 cups) |
12 ounces blackberries (2 1/2 cups) |
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup water |
1 (3-inch) cinnamon stick |
1 whole clove |
1 green cardamom pod (optional) |
Directions:
1. Bring berries, sugar, water, spices, and a pinch of salt to a boil in a heavy medium saucepan, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until fruit is very soft, about 30 minutes. Strain thourough a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing gently on and then discarding solids. Cool, then chill, covered. |
