Blue Willow Inn's Bacon Roll-ups

The Blue Willow Inn is located in the heart of the historic district of Social Circle, Georgia.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup water
1/2 stick butter
1 1/2 cups herb-seasoned breadcrumbs
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/4 pound hot or mild bulk pork sausage
2/3 pound bacon
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375. In a saucepan heat the water over medium heat. Melt the butter in the water. Put the breadcrumbs in a large mixing bowl. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir the mixture into the breadcrumbs. Add the egg and sausage to the breadcrumb mixture and blend thoroughly. Place in the refrigerator and chill for one hour. Remove from the refrigerator and shape into balls the size of walnuts. Cut the bacon strips into thirds and wrap the sausage balls with the bacon, securing the bacon with a toothpick. Place the roll-ups on a cookie sheet with sides. Bake for 35-40 minutes, turning once. Drain on paper towels prior to serving. Serve hot.
