Blonde Chocolate Chip Brownies

This is from Southern Living's The Southern Living Cookbook. I almost always double the reicpe and bake in either a 9x13 or half sheet pan. Also, I have replaced the flour/baking soda/salt with self rising flour with fine results. These freeze well.
Ingredients:
1/3 cup butter or 1/3 cup margarine, melted
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
1. Combine butter and brown sugar. Add egg and vanilla.
2. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to butter-sugar mixture, combining well. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans.
3. Spread into a greased and floured 8 square pan and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
