I made this the same night I made my greens recipe. I love Southern food but like to make it my way.
Ingredients:
1 cup rinsed and soaked black-eyed peas
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 small yellow onion, diced
1 teaspoon dried italian seasoning
1 garlic clove, minced
1 chicken bouillon cube
1 tablespoon dried vegetable flakes
1 tablespoon bacon bits
2 cups water
salt
pepper
Directions:
1. Stir all ingredients in a medium pot.
2. Cover and simmer for 3 hours or until soft, stirring occasionally.
