Black Bean Sweet Potato Chilli

I found this recipe in the paper a while back. It is simple to make and my husband who doesn't like sweet potatoes really enjoys it.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 jalapeno chile, seeded and minced
1 (28 ounce) can whole tomatoes with juice
1/2 lb green beans, trimmed and each cut crosswise in half
3 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 1/2-inch chunks (about 1 1/2 pounds)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, rinsed and drained
Directions:
1. Saute onion over med low heat for a couple minutes.
2. Add garlic, and chilli and spices, saute a couple more minutes.
3. Add tomatoes, green beans and sweet potatoes and turn heat to med high.
4. Bring to a simmer and add black beans and sugar bring to a boil and simmer over low heat until sweet potatoes are tender.
