Ingredients:
1 -ounce brandy
1 -ounce rum
1/2 -ounce cointreau
4 ounces freshly squeezed lemon juice
simple syrup, to taste
serving suggestion: garnish with fresh pomegranate seeds or an orange twist
Directions:
1. Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker using simple syrup to sweeten to taste. Shake vigorously with ice. Pour into a chilled cocktail glass over ice.
2. *Cook's Note: sugar syrup is a solution of equal parts sugar and water that is cooked over low heat until clear, then boiled for about minute. Cool and store in a squeeze bottle and use to sweeten drinks, to taste.
