~ Devil's Food ~
Ingredients:
2/3 cup shortening
2 1/4 cups cake flour,sifted
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/4 cups milk
3 eggs
1 teaspoon red food coloring
6 oz. unsweetened chocolate,melted
satan...i mean...satin frosting
3 1/2..1oz squares unsweetened chocolate
3 cups powdered sugar,sifted
4 1/2 tablespoons hot water
1 egg
1/2 butter
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
it's a fluffy,light chocolate frosting when whipped by a mixer.
for darker,more glossy frosting,beat with a spoon.
melt chocolate in mixing bowl over hot water.
remove from heat.
with mixer blend sugar and hot water.
beat in egg,then butter and vanilla.
frosting well be thin at this point,so place bowl over ice water,and beat till of spreading consistency.
Directions:

2. ~ Now..standing in your kitchen as your crooning into a spatula that ole' tune 'Devil or Angel' by Bobby Vee...Start~
3. Stir shortening just to soften.
4. Sift in dry ingredients.
5. Add 1/2 cup milk,mix until flour is damped.
6. Beat vigorously 2 minutes.
7. Add remaining milk,eggs,red food coloring,and melted chocolate.
8. Beat vigorously 2 minutes longer.
9. Bake in 2 paper-lined round pans,at 350 degree for about 35 minutes ,or,until done.
10. ~ Now this is the question you invariably need to ask yourself right before you spread that last bit of sweet smooth frosting on top...SHOULD YOU ...OR...SHOULD'NT YOU??
