Dog treats/biscuits that are safe & easy to make! Can improve bad breath. I have been told to make & sell these. Enjoy, I know all of the dogs that have tried these have! We usually use cookie cutters for fun shapes.
Ingredients:
3 cups whole wheat flour (can use all-purpose)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons chopped mint leaves, fresh
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 deg.
2. Using a mixer; combine flour, baking powder & soda in the bowl.
3. Add shortening slowly and process until it resembles cornmeal.
4. Add yogurt and mix until combined.
5. Add honey & parsley and mix through.
6. Roll out for even cooking. Can use cutters for shapes or just cut into bars.
7. Place on cookie sheet & bake 10-14min, or until they start to brown.
8. Allow to come to room temp then place in airtight containers &/or refrigerate.
9. Will last at room temp for approx 6 days, keep in fridge for longevity.
10. I recommend 1/2 by 1 bars for small & med dogs or 1 by 2 for large breeds. Even smaller pieces are great for training!
