I got this from a friend while we were living on the basics during spring break in Chicago. At first, I thought the combination sounded weird, but now this is my go to for a quick breakfast or lunch! It's open face too so it's low carb! (I tend to buy those brands where 2 slices of bread are only 110 calories or less) And just as a warning-I haven't found a substitute for the strawberry jam, nothing beats it! It's not the healthiest sandwich, but it's good!
Ingredients:
1 slice whole wheat bread
1 1/2 tablespoons strawberry jam
1 egg
2 slices bacon
Directions:
1. Pop the bread in the toaster and toast to your liking.
2. Meanwhile, slice the bacon into 4 pieces so it'll fit your bread, and fry them on the stove. Place them on a paper towel to let the grease drain off.
3. Drain off some of the grease from the pan, and use some to cook your egg over easy or sunny side up.
4. Assemble the sandwich by spreading the jam on the bread, then putting on the bacon, then adding the egg on top.
5. Enjoy!
