Keep frozen mixed berries in your freezer and you'll be able to whip up this smoothie in no time. The frozen fruit will make your drink slightly thicker than if you used fresh.
Ingredients:
1 ripe banana
1/2 cup low-fat plain yogurt or 1/2 cup nonfat plain yogurt
1 cup berries, frozen (any mix of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, olallieberries, or raspberries)
2 tablespoons honey
5 ice cubes
Directions:
1. Peel the banana and place in the blender. Add yogurt, berries, honey and ice, and blend on high speed to mix. Garnish with a couple of whole berries.
2. Makes 2 smoothies.
3. VARIATIONS:.
4. If you don't have plain yogurt, you can use vanilla or a berry-flavor variety, but you may want to cut the honey to one tablespoon. You can also use fresh berries rather than frozen, but up the ice cubes to 10.
