Altered recipe from Joy of Cooking
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 egg yolks
1 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup light cream
6 tablespoons butter, melted
2 egg whites
Directions:
1. Sift dry ingredients together.
2. Combine buttermilk, cream, egg yolks and melted butter with dry ingredients with a few swift strokes.
3. Beat egg whites until stiff, not dry.
4. Fold egg whites into batter.
5. Cook on belgian waffle iron.
