Beans, Greens & Pasta

Tuscan-style pasta dish. Feel free to vary the greens (any bitter green works well, as does broccoli) and the beans.
Ingredients:
12 oz whole wheat macaroni
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 c kale or rocket, sliced
400 g (1 can) tomatoes, diced
400 g (1 can) chickpeas or white kidney beans
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup red wine
1/4 c basil, fresh, minced
1 t sage, fresh (or 1 tsp dried sage leaves)
1 salt and pepper
Directions:
1. Start the water for the pasta.
2. Steam-fry the garlic in a large nonstick frypan.
3. Add the greens and cook until they wilt.
4. Add the tomatoes, beans, water, & wine. If you are using dried herbs, add them now.
5. Simmer while the pasta boils.
6. Add fresh herbs and season with salt and pepper to taste.
7. Drain the pasta, pour sauce over and serve.
