I love this tangy dressing and it couldn't be easier to make. It really livens up a plate of crisp salad greens - and it's also great on a baked potato or as a dip. I always double the recipe to have some extra on hand for dipping and snacking. Read more . An hour of the prep time is for chilling the dressing to let the flavors properly marry. Enjoy. Ingredients:
1 small garlic clove
rounded 1/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup well-shaken buttermilk
1/3 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh basil (if you use dried basil, back it down to 2 teaspoons)
Directions:
1. Mince garlic and mash to a paste with salt using a large heavy knife.
2. Whisk together buttermilk, mayonnaise, basil, and garlic paste in a small bowl.
3. Chill, covered, 1 hour to allow flavors to develop.
