Basic Meat Sauce

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cups sliced mushrooms
3/4 lb lean ground beef
1/2 cup dry white wine
1 (28 ounce) can italian plum tomatoes
1/2 cup water
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Directions:
1. Heat oil in large nonstick skillet.
2. Add onion; cook until softened, 4 minutes.
3. Add mushrooms; cook until liquid evaporates, 5 minutes.
4. Add beef; cook, breaking up clumps, until browned.
5. Add wine; cook until wine evaporates.
6. Add tomatoes with their liquid, water, salt and pepper; simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally until sauce thickens, about 15 minutes.
7. Toss with cooked pasta of choice and serve.
8. Sprinkle with freshly grated parmesan cheese at the table.
