Most people call these Sloppy Joes. From Mary Schafer, 1950. Recipe jealously guarded in times past. This is the stuff we grew up with. Use 90% ground beef or brown and drain the beef first. Serve on hamburger buns with dill pickle chips, a must!
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 teaspoon horseradish
1/2 cup heinz chili sauce
4 small onions, diced (1/2 to 1 cup)
1/2 cup tomato juice
salt (to taste)
black pepper (to taste)
sugar (to taste)
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a deep skillet and simmer until meat and onions are done.
