Bananas With Whipped Cream And Rum

Oh, yes, this is good! Oh, yes, this is simple! Oh, yes, this is a nice dessert! Impressive served on a glass dessert plate. Very nice.
Ingredients:
4-6 large firm bananas
1/3 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup rum
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Peel bananas, slice in half lengthwise
2. In skillet, saute in butter until golden brown
3. Drain on paper towel
4. Place on a large platter or dessert plate
5. Cool
6. Sprinkle 1/2 of the sugar, (1/4 cup), over bananas
7. In bowl, whip the cream until stiff peaks form
8. Folding in the remaining 1/4 cup sugar, rum, and vanilla
9. Cover bananas with this mixture
10. Chill
11. Serve sprinkled with ground cloves OR cinnamon OR both
