Banana Oatmeal Cake With Caramel Fudge Frosting

From the newspaper long ago, courtesy of Manitoba Milk Producers, this moist cake hits the spot when you crave oatmeal, banana and caramel y goodness.
Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups mashed ripe banana
3/4 cup buttermilk
caramel fudge frosting
1/3 cup butter
1 cup lightly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup milk ( at least 2%)
2 cups sifted icing sugar
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F
2. Grease 9x13 cake pan.
3. CAKE:
4. In medium bowl mix together dry ingredients.
5. In large bowl with electric mixer cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
6. Add eggs and vanilla, beating well.
7. Add dry ingredients alternately with bananas and buttermilk mixing lightly after each addition.
8. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
9. Cool completely on cake rack.

11. FROSTING:
12. Melt butter in saucepan.
13. Stir in brown sugar and heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
14. Boil and stir over low heat for 2 minutes.
15. Stir in milk.and heat to boiling again.
16. Remove from heat.
17. Gradually stir in icing sugar.
18. Spread on cooled cake.
