This recipe is from my great grandmother's handwritten cookbook. (1895)
Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 bananas
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1/4 cup sour milk
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Combine Shortening, sugar, mashed bananas, salt and vanilla in a bowl and cream together.
3. Add eggs, sour milk to creamed mixture and stir.
4. In separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and soda.
5. Slowly add dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Once combined pour mixture into a greased and floured tube pan.
6. Bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
