Baked Spareribs With Sauerkraut

This recipe is an easy one-pan meal.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 quarts sauerkraut, canned
4 lbs spareribs
1 large onion, sliced
1 pinch salt
1 pinch pepper
Directions:
1. Preheat overn to 400 degrees.
2. Place sauerkraut in a mound in the center of a small roasting pan.
3. Season the spareribs lightly with salt and pepper, and fold them each in half.
4. Between the folds, place slices of onion.
5. Cover the sauerkraut with the folded ribs.
6. Bake in the oven until they are browned, about 45 minutes.
7. Baste frequently with juices (add water if necessary) and turn ribs over when brown.
8. Reduce oven heat to 350 degrees and cook for 1 more hour.
