A nice alternative to fried French toast
Ingredients:
8 slices bread, i like challah
3 tbs. unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup milk, room temperature, i like using half and half
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. ground cinnamon i usually put in a bit more
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
2. Cut bread in in 1/4' to 1/2' slices and brush bread with butter. (sometimes I put them int eh toaster first).
3. Arrange bread overlapping slightly in 2 rows in a buttered baking dish. Combine milk, egg, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg in a bowl and mix thoroughly.
4. Spread mixture over bread in baking dish.
5. Bake about 25 minutes or until top is browned.
