Baked Apple Or Green Mango Dumplings

Ingredients:
4 cups apples or green mangoes
4 cups flour
1 cup butter or margarine
8 tsp. baking powder
1 1/3 cups milk
cinnamon or nutmeg
syrup
3 cups
water
1 tablespoon butter
Directions:
1. Peel, cut in chunks, and partially cook the apples or mangoes with sugar to taste
2. Make a biscuit dough of the next four ingredients. Roll out 1/4 in. thick. Cut in squares (5 or 6 in.); put several pieces of fruit in each; sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg and fold into a ball.
3. Place in baking pan.

5. Boil up the syrup ingredients and pour over the dumplings.
6. Bake in a hot oven until brown.
7. Serve with whipped cream or a sauce.
