This dish, came about by pure accident ,ive tried to perfect it so give it a shot and lemme know.
Ingredients:
1 kilo bag,(2 x cans) fresh garden peas
500gr of bacon(smokey works best)
250 ml good red wine(pinotage)
1 medium red onion
1medium brown onion
pepper
brown sugar to taste
a light olive oil
balsamic vinegar,one that compliments the wine you chose.
Directions:
1. oil your skillet/pot/wok
2. Add your finely diced brown onion to the oil
3. Add pepper,just a sprinkle
4. let this brown nicely.
5. now add your diced bacon,let this crisp up just a bit.
6. cut the red onion into rings and drizzle with Balsamic Vinegar,place in fridge to chill out
7. Now heres where you pour yourself some wine
8. now to your onion/bacon/pepper in the pot add half the wine and let this simmer.
9. Add two teaspoons of sugar,the aim is to get the mixture all sticky sweet.
10. Now add the peas and rest of the wine,let this simmer for 3 minutes making sure the sauce is stired through.
11. let the dish cool down and add your Red onion rings.
12. works well with Beef Steak and salmon,strangely enough.
