This recipe is one of my favorite make ahead desserts but ancient-I got it via my mother from an aunt-I think it is probably well over 50 years old. Whenever they invented the marshmallow... When did they invent the marshmallow?
Ingredients:
15 marshmallows
1/2 cup skim milk
4 (1 ounce) milk chocolate candy bars with almonds
1 1/3 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
4 tablespoons butter
1 cup cream
Directions:
1. Set out butter to soften.
2. Put first three ingredients in top pan of double boiler, melt, cool, stir, set aside.
3. Combine graham crumbs, powdered sugar, and butter.
4. Set aside 2 tablespoons of crumb mixtures.
5. Toss and press into 8 square pan.
6. Whip cream and fold into marshmallow mix.
7. Put this chocolate mixture on top of the crumb layer.
8. Put remaining crumbs on top.
9. Refrigerate several hours.
