Au Gratin Potatoes

The boxed version of these potatoes leaves alot to be desired. My father actually called them hog rotten so after a few trys I came up with this, my family loves it. I like to try different variations on the cheese. I also like to use green onion dip instead of the sour cream.
Ingredients:
2 lbs potatoes, peeled sliced thin
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups grated white american cheese
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup sour cream
2 wedges laughing cow herb cheese spread
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Directions:
1. preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Use 1 tbls butter to coat a 1 quart casserole dish.
3. put milk, sour cream, butter, cheese wedges, cornstarch in small sauce pan, heat until just before boiling, stiring occasionaly.
4. Layer potatoes and grated cheese in casserole until all are used.
5. Pour milk mixture over potatoes.
6. Cover with foil.
7. Bake 45 minutes. Uncover bake another 20 minutes until potatoes are cooked and top is bubbly and brown.
8. Let set for about 8 minutes before serving.
