Asparagus Tapas and Red Pepper Sauce

Another asparagus appetizer.
Ingredients:
2 large sweet red peppers, cored & seeded
2 garlic cloves, crushed
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 -4 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/4 cup fresh basil
1 lb fresh asparagus, trimmed
1/2 cup water
1 loaf baguette, sliced
Directions:
1. Coarsely chop red peppers.
2. Cook peppers and garlic in oil over low heat 30 minutes.
3. Puree mixture in food processor or blender.
4. Add vinegar, basil, salt and pepper.
5. Bring water to boil in skillet, add asparagus spears.
6. Return water to boiling and simmer, covered about 5 minutes or until asparagus is crisp-tender.
7. Drain.
8. Spoon red pepper sauce on platter and arrange asparagus on sauce.
9. Garnish with red pepper and basil, if desired.
10. Serve with baguette.
