Asparagus Filled Strata

This is a very tasty, very impressive breakfast or brunch strata sure to please all. Enjoy
Ingredients:
2 packages frozen asparagus pieces
10 slices whole wheat bread
butter
2-1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
1 cup cooked ham coarsely chopped
5 eggs
2 tablespoons onion
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 dash cayenne
1-3/4 cups milk
Directions:
1. Cook asparagus just until tender then drain and set aside.
2. Lightly butter pieces of bread and line a lightly buttered baking dish with them.
3. Sprinkle half the cheese over bread pieces.
4. Top that with ham and asparagus.
5. Mix eggs, onion, seasonings and milk then pour evenly over layered ingredients and cover.
6. Refrigerate several hours.
7. Set out 20 minutes before baking.
8. Preheat oven to 350 then bake one hour.
9. Sprinkle remaining cheese over strata and continue baking until cheese is delectably melted.
