This recipe is adapted from one in Simple and Delicious that used chicken instead of pork chops. The simple sauce and tender chops make a delicious dish. You can add the chili powder for a different taste.
Ingredients:
4 boneless pork chops
1 -2 tablespoon olive oil
salt (to taste)
fresh ground pepper (to taste)
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1/2 cup chunky applesauce
1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
Directions:
1. Sprinkle room-temperature chops with salt, pepper, and thyme.
2. Place oil in heavy skillet and heat until medium hot.
3. Brown chops slowly on both sides until golden brown.
4. This should take about 5 minutes per side.
5. Combine barbecue sauce, chunky applesauce, and chili powder (if desired.).
6. Cover chops with sauce.
7. Cover pan.
8. Simmer chops til tender, about 10 minutes.
