Apple Upside Down Cake

Better than pineapple any day.
Ingredients:
2 granny smith apples, peeled cored & thin sliced
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg
1 (18 ounce) box yellow cake mix
3 eggs (or as called for by your cake mix)
1/3 cup oil (or as called for by your cake mix)
1 1/3 cups water (or as called for by your cake mix)
Directions:
1. put lemon juice in bottom of double boiler with 1& 1/2 cups water put apples in to soak.
2. Mix brown sugar, cinammon & nutmeg together & set aside.
3. In 2- 9 cake pans melt 1/2 stick butter in each.
4. transfer apples to top of double boiler, bring to boil & set aside.
5. divide brown sugar mixture between cake pans.
6. layer apple slices on top of brown sugar.
7. prepair cake mix as directed on box & divide in cake pans.
8. Bake at 375F for 28-30 minute cool on wire rack 10 minute.
9. turn out on cake plate & enjoy.
