This is my version of pie filling. I like to use braeburn apples because their flavor is so good. I use a bit less cinnamon because I like that flavor in the background so that it doesn't cover the flavor of the apples. Read more . I know the picture doesn't look very professional, but the flavor of this pie is really wonderful.
Ingredients:
4 braeburn apples (about 1.5 lbs)
3/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp butter
3 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (220°C)
2. Combine the sugar, flour, salt and cinnamon in a large bowl
3. Peel, core and slice the apples thinly.
4. Add to the sugar mixture and combine thoroughly.
5. Roll out the dough and place in pie pan. Add the apples and put the butter in small pieces on the apples.
6. Roll out the top crust and place on the apples. Make a few slits to let the steam escape.
7. Cover the edge of the pie with aluminum foil to prevent it from browning too fast and remove after 40 minutes.
8. Let the pie bake another 10 minutes until the filling is bubbling and it has a nice color.
9. Remove from oven and let cool at least a half hour before serving.
