Apple-nut Ring

This comes from Pampered Chef. They are phenomenal served warm at breakfast.
Ingredients:
2 8-ounce cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
3/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 medium apples
1/3 cup chopped nuts
1/4 cup raisins (optional)
Directions:
1. Separate the biscuits into 20 pieces.
2. Combine sugar and cinnamon.
3. Dip biscuits into melted butter, then roll in sugar mixture.
4. Arrange biscuits in a round deep dish baker or 9 x 11 baking dish starting at the outer edges first and then filling in the middle..
5. Peel, core and slice apples into thin slices.
6. Place an apple slice between each biscuit and place apple slices all around outer edge of the baking dish.
7. Mix nuts and raising with with remaining sugar mixture and pour all over the biscuits.
8. Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
9. Yield 20 rolls.
