Apple Fritters With Spiced Syrup

These homemade donuts feature the yummy flavor combo of apple and cinnamon. Then gently coat the fritters in cinnamon sugar and drizzle with warm maple syrup. They're incredible!!
Ingredients:
crisco canola oil (for frying)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup maple syrup or 1/2 cup table syrup
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 medium apple, peeled, cored and chopped to make 1 cup
1 tablespoon crisco canola oil
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions:
1. Heat 2-3 inches of oil to 365F in deep fryer or deep saucpan.
2. CINNAMON SUGAR: While oil heats, combine sugar and cinnamon in a resealable food storage bag.
3. SPICED SYRUP: Mix syrup and cinnamon and heat in a microwave safe bowl or on low heat in a saucepan. Keep warm while peparing fritters.
4. BATTER: Combine egg and milk in large bowl. Stir in apple and oil.
5. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in another bowl. add to egg mixture. Stir until just mixed.
6. Drop by Tablespoonfuls a few at a time into hot oil. Fry about 4 minutes or until golden brown. Turn as needed for even browning. Remove with slottled spoon. Drain on paper towels.
7. Gently shake fritters in cinnamon sugar mixture. Place in a shallow serving bowl. Drizzle with warm syrup. Serve warm.
