Ingredients:
6 medium apples
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
3/4 cup rolled oats
3 tablespoons toasted wheat germ
3 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Coat a 12 x 8 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
3. Cut apples in half lengthwise.
4. Remove the cores and stems and discard.
5. Cut the apples into thin slices.
6. Place the apples and applesauce in the prepared baking dish.
7. Toss to coat the apples evenly with the applesauce.
8. Spread out evenly in the baking dish.
9. In a small bowl, mix the oats, brown sugar, wheat germ and cinnamon.
10. Drizzle with the oil.
11. Add the butter.
12. Mix with your fingers to work the oil and butter into the dry ingredients.
13. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
14. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until topping is golden and apples are bubbling.
15. Serve warm.
