Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 8 cups thinly sliced peeled apples
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Crust: Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  2. Cut in butter until crumbly.
  3. In small bowl, lightly beat eggs, vanilla and milk.
  4. Add to dry mixture; stir with a fork until dough forms a ball.
  5. Press half in bottom of greased 13x9 baking pan.
  6. Chill remaining dough.
  7. Filling: Toss apples with cornstarch, sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  8. Put apples in pan.
  9. Roll out chilled dough to fit top of pan.
  10. Place over apples.
  11. Topping: Brush milk onto top crust.
  12. Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle on top of crust.
  13. Bake at 350* for 45 minutes, until golden brown.
