Apple-Butterscotch Brownies

What could be bad about apples and butterscotch. Appeared in September 2011 Southern Living. Posting here for safe keeping.
Ingredients:
1 cup pecans, chopped
2 cups dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup butter, melted
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups granny smith apples, peeled and diced (about 1 1/2 lbs.)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350º.
2. Bake pecans in a single layer in a shallow pan 8 to 10 minutes or until toasted and fragrant, stirring halfway through.
3. Stir together brown sugar, eggs and vanilla.
4. In a seperate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt.
5. Add to flour mixture to brown sugar mixture, and stir until blended.
6. Stir in apples and pecans.
7. Pour mixture into a greased and floured 13- x 9-inch pan; spread in an even layer.
8. Bake at 350º for 35 to 45 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
9. Cool completely (about 1 hour). Cut into bars.
