Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

Directions:

  1. Combine first 4 ingredients,set aside.
  2. Beat butter at medium speed until creamy.
  3. Gradually add sugar,beat well.
  4. Add milk and egg,beating well.
  5. Stir in flour mixture,set aside.
  6. Combine apples and next 4 ingredients in large bowl.
  7. Combine cornstarch and water.
  8. Add to apples,stir well.
  9. Spoon fruit mixture into lightly greased 11x7x1 1/2 inch baking dish.
  10. Drop batter by spoonfuls over fruit.
  11. Bake at 350 degrees,for 45-60 minutes or until golden.
  12. Serve with Vanilla Bean Hard Sauce (another Recipezaar recipe) or ice cream.
