Curd cheese is a popular addition to many dishes in the British Isles. It lends a delicate flavor to fruit dishes and is a common ingredient in every British home. If you like cottage cheese with fruit you will enjoy this dessert served warm with or without fresh unwhipped creme,clotted creme if you have it. Submitted for ZAAR III British Tour
Ingredients:
1 lb apple
1 ounce butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 ounces whole milk
3 ounces cottage cheese
2 eggs, beaten
1 ounce sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
1. Peel,core and slice apples as for pie.
2. Cook the apple slices gently in fry pan with butter and vanilla until slightly soft.
3. Place in a buttered ovenproof dish.
4. Beat together the milk, cheese, eggs and sugar.
5. Pour over the apples.
6. Sprinkle cinnamon over top.
7. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes or until apples are fork tender.
8. Serve warm.
