Liv Arneson and Ann Bancroft ate this cake while attempting to become the first women to ski across the frozen continent.
Ingredients:
4 ounces cherries
1 cup raisins
1 cup whiskey
4 ounces butter
1 1/4 cups caster sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
7 ounces walnuts
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Directions:
1. Mix castor sugar, brown sugar, butter, eggs, and whisky together in a bowl and set aside.
2. Combine baking powder with sifted flour.
3. Add the baking powder and flour to the sugar mixture and blend until smooth.
4. Fold in the remaining ingredients with a spatula.
5. Pour into a greased and floured bread pan.
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes (watch after 35 minutes).
7. Cool on a rack and enjoy!
