Incredible biscuit from my Aunt Barbara's collection. These always turn out flaky and no matter how many we make, there are never any left. Enjoy
Ingredients:
1 cake yeast
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons lukewarm water
1 cup shortening
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 cups buttermilk
5 cups all purpose flour
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in water.
2. Into a bowl sift flour with other dry ingredients.
3. Cut in shortening then add buttermilk then yeast mixture.
4. Stir until all flour is dampened.
5. Knead on floured board for 1 minute then roll to desired thickness.
6. Cut with a biscuit cutter.
7. Bake at 400 for 12 minutes.
