This is similiar to Almond Roca as it's my fave candy.
Ingredients:
1 t. corn syrup
1 1/4 c. white sugar
1 c. butter
1/4 c. water
1 1/4 c. toasted slivered almonds
1 (6-oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Directions:
1. In large saucepan, gently boil syrup, sugar, butter & water until hard crack stage on candy thermometer (300°) Do not stir!
2. This step takes at least ten minutes.
3. I mean don't stir after you have initially stirred up to make sure it is well combined and dissolved and started to boil.
4. Remove from heat, add almonds and mix well.
5. Spread on ungreased cookie sheet and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
6. As they melt, spread chips evenly over the candy.
7. Cool in fridge or freezer.
8. Break into bite size pieces and hide.
9. *You can toast the almonds in a fry pan over medium heat until slightly brown.
