Almond Berry Cookies

Simple sugar cookies with almond pieces and dried cranberries. Even kids will eat them and they look pretty fancy to your friends too!
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter flavor shortening
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
2 cups flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup dried cranberries, soaked in boiling water (or blueberries)
Directions:
1. cream sugar, shortening, butter, egg, vanilla, salt, soda. Slowly add flour until blended. Drain berries well. Add nuts and berries to dough and mix by hand. Drop by teaspoons onto a baking sheet (about golfball sized). Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes (golden but not brown).
