Recipe #2 of handwritten notes from somewhere...sorry I cannot remember where I found this recipe. This is an all-season suet treat for birds but I still find that I use it more in the late fall - early spring seasons but maybe that is because I do not feed my bird friends suet in the summer and instead use a variety of unsalted nuts. Ingredients:
1 cup peanut butter (creamy or chunky) |
3 cups water |
1 1/2 cups cornmeal |
1/2 cup flour |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1 cup hulled sunflower seeds |
Directions:
1. Combine peanut butter and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. 2. Cook until peanut butter completely melts. 3. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. 4. Bring to a boil again and boil for 1 minute. 5. Pour into suet molds or a bread pan and allow to cool completely. 6. If using bread pan, slice into a thickness that will fit into your suet feeders. 7. Store unused portions in your freezer until needed. |
