AIRY GERMAN APPLE COFFEECAKE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Carr Estate in Bonham, Texas in 1994.
Ingredients:
8 ounce cream cheese softened
1/3 cup confectioner's sugar
2 tablespoons margarine softened
8 ounce package crescent rolls
4 apples
1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons margarine softened
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375.
2. In medium bowl blend cream cheese, sugar, cinnamon and margarine until smooth.
3. Separate crescent rolls into 2 long rectangles then press into ungreased rectangular dish.
4. Crust should go up sides slightly then seal perforations and spread cheese mixture on top.
5. Pare and slice apples then place 4 rows on dough then cover with cheese mixture.
6. In small bowl blend flour, brown sugar, margarine and chopped nuts.
7. Sprinkle on top of apples then bake 30 minutes and cool slightly before serving.
