I have never been a fan of that cranberry sauce in a can, so a few years ago, I started making it fresh. The difference was incredible! If you try either of these recipes, you won't go back to that lump of jelly.
Ingredients:
recipe # 1
12 oz fresh cranberries
1 cup white sugar
1 cup orange
over medium heat, dissolve the sugar in the orange juice
stir in the cranberries and cook until the cranberries start to pop, about 10 minutes
remove from heat and place in a bowl
sauce will thicken as it cools
recipe #2
12 oz fresh cranberries
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1 cup water
in a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil
reduce to a simmer and cook until cranberries are soft about 10 minutes
transfer to a bowl and let cool
