You don't have to order take-out to enjoy great oriental-stye ribs. This recipe has a wondeful result. Great for barbecues. Guests can enjoy these as an appetizer while you entertain them with your grill skill.
Ingredients:
2-1/2 pounds chinese-style pork spareribs (ask the butcher to separate them for you so you don't have to do it yourself at home.)
2 teaspoons chinese five-spice powder
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1/2 teaspoon chili sauce
4 tablespoons dark soy sauce
3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon sunflower oil
4 scallions, finely chopped for garnish
Directions:
1. Place separated ribs in a large mixing bowl.
2. In a separate mixing bowl, mix together the chinese five-spice powder, garlic, cili sauce, dark soy sauce, dark brown sugar and sunflower oil.
3. Whisk this thoroughly.
4. Pour over ribs and toss to coat evenly.
5. Cover the bowl and marinate in the refrigerator 8 hours or overnight.
6. Cook the ribs over medium-high grill heat, turning frequently, for 30-40 minutes. Brush them with the marinade during cooking.
7. When rib are done, sprinkle them with chives.
8. Finger-lickin' good.
